This weekend my sisters and cousins sifted thru photographs of our family from World War I, the Roaring 20s, the Great Depression, World War 2, Korea and Vietnam.
After pondering and discussing the lives of our forebears, my 93 y.o. mother showed us one of her most prized possessions.
As a 14 y.o. girl, she awakened Wednesday morning August 15, 1945, to learn that peace was declared in the South Pacific August 14th. She kept this copy of the Philadelphia Inquirer throughout her entire life and it even survived a house fire.
PEACE
I wish peace not just for my family and neighbors, but for you - your family and neighbors and all families across this world.
Let us all be instruments of peace.
